Ireland as a digital economy

This week’s blog topic is reasons why multinational’s particularly in the tech industry find Ireland a great place to do business.

I gathered the information from the IDA Ireland website.

Ireland is accessible from anywhere as it has easy access to international airports, always ongoing public investment in sea, air, rail and road networks, daily international connections by sea and air to anywhere in the world.

Ireland is committed to sustainable energy these include offshore wind and wave energy, they hope by 2023 that 80% of electricity will be from renewable sources.

Ireland is committed member of the EU single market, Ireland is known for having the fastest growing economy in the eurozone.

Ireland has a committed FDI base, providing all resources needed for the business needs, its home to 1,700 multinationals, having a positive contribution to Irish society.

Irish people are friendly towards foreign residents, 22% employees FDI firms in Ireland are international, there is over 200 different nationalities represented throughout Ireland.

Ireland recognised for the best place in the world for quality of life, education standard, household income and health and life expectancy,  ranked 2nd highest for quality of life in the world.

Highly educated population, which encourages employment in high tech and knowledge intensive industries. While educators work with industry to teach the skill required in the future, skilled graduates feed Ireland’s talent pipeline in science and technology. Irish people aged 23 – 34 make up 62.3% of the population.

Open to international talent, Ireland can access a labour force of 250 million people serving multiply markets. More than 70% of immigrants to Ireland hold a degree from a third level institution.

Education is aligned with industry, Ireland is home to 9 of the top 10 US technology and software companies, Education works closely with businesses to develop programmes required in today’s world.

Ireland has the highest investment in infrastructure supporting growth and foreign direct investment, €165 billion committed to some major infrastructure.

Overall I really do think Ireland is a great place to do business.
